What AXIS is

AXIS is a self-guided psychological coaching application. It uses artificial intelligence to generate a personalised diagnostic profile from your questionnaire responses and to provide an AI coaching experience over a 90-day programme.

What AXIS is not

AXIS is not a medical or clinical service. It is not therapy. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment, psychiatric care, or counselling. The AI-generated content in this app is for educational and self-development purposes only.

AXIS does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental health condition or illness. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or thoughts of self-harm, contact a crisis service immediately.

AI-generated content

The diagnostic profile, AI coach responses, daily content, and all personalised material in this app are generated by artificial intelligence (specifically, Anthropic's Claude language model). AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or interpretations that do not accurately reflect your situation.

We have implemented safeguards to prevent harmful outputs — including anti-sycophancy rules, crisis detection and escalation, scope boundaries, and clinical diagnosis prevention. You should treat all AI-generated content as a starting point for self-reflection, not as authoritative truth about your psychology. See our AI safety page for full details.

Your responsibility

By using AXIS, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are solely responsible for how you interpret and act on the information provided by AXIS
• AXIS and its creators are not responsible for any decisions, actions, or outcomes resulting from your use of the app
• You will not use AXIS as a replacement for professional mental health treatment if you need it
• If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, you will consult them before using AXIS
• You understand the AI coach is not a human and cannot provide the nuanced care of a trained professional

AI safety measures

The AXIS AI coach operates under strict guardrails:

• Anti-sycophancy: the coach is instructed to challenge your interpretations when they appear defensive, not to agree with everything you say
• Crisis detection: if you express suicidal thoughts, self-harm intentions, or describe a crisis, the coach immediately stops coaching and provides crisis service contact information
• Scope limitation: the coach only discusses your psychological patterns and the AXIS programme
• No clinical diagnosis: the coach will never diagnose you with a clinical condition
• Dependency prevention: if you begin treating the AI coach as your primary emotional support, it will redirect you to real human connections
• Honesty over comfort: if your data contradicts what you are telling the coach, it will name the discrepancy

Payment and refunds

AXIS payments — for the Diagnostic, the Bundle (Diagnostic + Web App), and the Coaching Programme — are processed by Stripe. AXIS does not store your payment information.

For the Diagnostic, refunds are not available once the diagnostic document has been delivered, as it represents the core intellectual deliverable. For the Bundle, a 30-day satisfaction guarantee applies: complete the diagnostic, follow the first 30 days of the programme, and request a full refund if you do not feel you have more clarity than you did before. You keep the diagnostic report regardless.

Data and privacy

See our privacy policy for details on how your data is collected, processed, and stored. Your questionnaire responses are sensitive. They are not sold, not shared with third parties, and stored securely.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AXIS, its creators, affiliates, and employees shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the application. Total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the AXIS programme.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of material changes through the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lisbon, Portugal.
